Peapod at Stop & Shop

I was recently contacted by a representative of Peapod to join them and a few other bloggers for a behind the scenes tour of Peapod at Stop & Shop. I was interested in how this program worked and better yet I wanted to see if it was in fact possible to save money while using this service so I attended the tour last week.

For those of you that are not familiar with Peapod, this is a delivery service that works with Stop & Shop in our area. You place your order online, "shoppers" pull your order for you, it gets loaded on the truck and delivered to your home! Very convenient! I must say the tour was very interesting to attend, they took us up to the Peapod area where the "shoppers" did all the shopping and loading of groceries. They do not shop on the store floor anymore for a few reasons some of them being they were getting in the way of the customers in the store and also they were taking stock off the shelves pretty quickly so again that was getting in the way of the store customers. Instead they now have a large room that mocks a grocery store layout so the shoppers can shop away all day and pull orders from their own stocked shelves! I thought this was brilliant.

You will need a minimum order of $60 to use Peapod and the delivery fee is $9.95. Orders over $100 have a $6.95 delivery fee. Here is what my readers want to know though...you CAN save money! They accept COUPONS! The spokeswoman said that they follow the same coupon policy as Stop & Shop only they will not accept the $/$$ off coupons from Stop & Shop or competitors. You can use any manufacturer coupon that is accepted at Stop & Shop though and that included printables! They double coupons w/ a face value of up to $0.99 just like Stop & Shop as well. There are also other ways to save online with them as well that you can find on their website, for example if you choose a certain delivery time you can save $1 or $2 off your order.

As a thank you for attending this tour Peapod and Stop & Shop gave us a $50 gift card to try out the service! I was very pleased with the service to say the least! I placed an order on Friday at 3:30pm and chose to have it delivered the next day (sat) between 7:30 and 11:30am. They do break that window down for you even more and will give you a two hour time frame when the driver has their schedule. Even though I was completely satisfied with the service, for an extreme coupon shopper like myself it is VERY hard to spend even $60 in one order. I could see using this service at times though. Especially when there is a good sale w/ coupons and a meat sale to stock up on. They do count the $60 mark BEFORE coupons so that is a plus! When you use coupons all you need to do is have them ready in an envelope for the driver. Peapod does not charge your card until the coupons are adjusted which is really nice! I used 6 coupons for my order (mostly stocked up on meats since we were low) some were printables, some were inserts and one was for a FREE item when you buy "x". All the coupons went through with no problems!

Here is a code for $10 off your first order if you are interested in giving it a shot yourself! BROCHURE10
